The 36th Lisduff Sale
The 36th annual Lisduff Sale took place on Saturday 28th September at the home farm in Whitechurch, Co. Cork.
There was 110 head on offer including over 30 heifer calves. The sale was conducted by Denis Barrett, auctioneer.
The sale animals were bred from strong cow families, originating from top international families selected in France (Neottie & Indianink), Germany (Ellen), Italy (Letale), Canada (Sasha), USA (Leslie, Ada, Zandra), then further developed at Lisduff to suit their dairy farming system.
A notable feature of the catalogue was the strong milk solids with high protein % and EX conformation.
There was a brisk sale with full clearance of the calved heifers and heifer calves at foot. All heifers were in calf to sexed semen which was an added bonus for those purchasing spring calving heifers.
The calved heifers averaged €1,930 with heifer calves at foot averaging €825. Top price was €2,900 for Lisduff Neottie 94 by Goldenfield Raphael, with her heifer calf at foot, Lisduff Neottie 116, making €1,100. The heifer calf was sired by Westcoast Yamaska.
There was a near full clearance of the spring calving heifers which averaged €2,150.The top price was for Lisduff Mary 205, again at €2,900. She was sired by Jetstream tracing back to Creva Mary.
