IHFA Judges Conference 2011
More than 100 people gathered together on Tom Murphy’s “Swiftsheath” herd on Saturday, May 7th last. The objective being to take part in a “Judges Conference” whereby the participants were aiming to qualify onto a new and up-to-date Judge’s panel. IHFA maintain an official list of recommended judges which is available to the organisers of the various cattle shows throughout the country.
3 classes of cows were paraded for inspection; heifers, junior cows and senior cows. Following this there was a lively and informative debate among the participants. This was a healthy contribution of opinion and comment. The judge’s conference was an ideal opportunity to gain a consensus on the traits and characteristics most important to the breed of today.
A warm thanks to the 3 master judges on the day, Mervyn Eager, Paul Hannon and Ricky Barrett.
Sincere thanks to Tom, Maura and family for doing a tremendous job of hosting the conference. They made sure that everyone travelled home fed and content after a very enjoyable day.
