The Diageo Baileys All Ireland Champion cow 2022 competition was a tremendous showcase of top-quality breeding. 

Twenty-two exceptional cows and heifers were in contention for the prestigious honours. Joint sponsors of the Diageo Baileys All Ireland Champion cow are Tirlán and Diageo. Together both companies work together closely in a very successful and long-established partnership manufacturing the Diageo Baileys liquor beverage from cream produced by milk supplied by Tirlán milk suppliers. The show venue of Virginia Showgrounds, Virginia, Co. Cavan is strategically significant in close proximity to the Tirlán Virginia milk protein facility. 

Breeders from the North and South of Ireland competed for the unique All-Ireland honours. Judge was David Booth of the Feizor herd in the UK. David is a member of Holstein UK’s National Judges panel, and he has extensive judging experience at the top level shows

Breeders Sam and John McCormick from Hilltara in County Down won the Diageo Baileys All Ireland Champion Cow 2022 with Hilltara Undenied Apple. She also won Baileys Junior Cow award. Fresh in her second lactation she is classified VG89, EX90 Mammary and EX90 Legs & Feet. She is bred from nine generations of VG/EX Dams. Her sire is Our-Favourite Undenied. She was crowned Champion of Balmoral Show earlier in the year. In her first lactation she recorded over 10,000 kgs milk, 758 kgs milk solids. 

Reserve Champion was won by Hallow Atwood Twizzle 1181 exhibited by Philip & Linda Jones, Killowen, Gorey, Co. Wexford. She also won best exhibitor bred. To date she has recorded 51, 848 kgs milk, 4,403 kgs milk solids in her four lactations. She has 10 VG/EX sisters including four VG/EX full sisters. Her daughters include two who scored VG 2-Year-Old. 

Baldonnel Brady Hailey exhibited by John & Cyril Dowling, Kilmurray, Trim, Co. Meath won Honourable Mention. Six months into her third lactation she is classified EX92 on conformation. Her 3rd Dam is RF Goldwyn Hailey EX97 who won Grand Champion World Dairy Expo in Madison U.S.A. in 2017.
