Ballybay mart, Ballybay Co. Monaghan was again the venue. Proceedings got underway with a buzz in the air as the attendance comprised a mixture of breeders from Northern Ireland and also from across the Republic. Everyone spoke highly of the pedigrees on offer as well as the quality of work in turning the calves out so well. The recent extended spell of fine weather and the fact that farm work is generally under control helped the attendance and trade buoyancy. The fact that most sale lots were export qualified combined with the current favourable sterling exchange made the sale appealing to Northern Ireland breeders.
