“Protein, Yield of Solids, Conformation and Dairy strength in demand at the IHFA bull sale”
The IHFA Premier Bull Sale held on Wednesday 26th March at Central Auctions, Nenagh Livestock Mart. This was an excellent catalogue of bulls and quality to match. The bulls were of high health status, parentage validated, with the majority tested with Genomic proofs.
On the day 42 bulls were forward for sale and 26 of these were sold with an average of € 2,954. Top price was €5,100.
Crossnacole Paragold — owned by Victor Jackson, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow & sold for €4,000
Reserve Champion: Laurelelm Semos — owned by John & Ricky Barrett & Sons, Ballinhassig, Co. Cork & sold for €5,100 (Top Price)
Honourable Mention: Laurelmore Megers — owned by John & Ricky Barrett & Sons, Ballinhassig, Co. Cork & sold for €3,000
Reserve Champion: Laurelelm Semos with owner Rickey Barrett, Judge Gary Hurley & Charles Gallagher, C.E. IHFA.
There was excellent trade and brisk demand for bulls with conformation and protein.
Other Top Prices:
€4,700 to Paul Hannon for Lisnalty Fever 1506 by Crackholm Fever,dam with Protein to 3.72%.
€4,000 to John O Callaghan for Mountfarna Levi by Morningview Levi 232 with Protein to 3.66%.
I wish to congratulate all the exhibitors and prize winners for turning out their bulls to a very high standard.
